Movie architects are nothing if not busy- a cinema trope closer to life than most. Not that Hollywood always understands what the work involves. One of the first architect protagonists, played by a suave Antonio Moreno in 1926’s The Temptress, is a visionary who brings progress to an Argentine backwater: far better to show him getting his hands dirty rigging a dam than poring over sketches. Like so many subsequent movie architects Moreno’s Manuel finds his quest disrupted by romance, in his case Greta Garbo’s eye-popping seductress Elena. …
